Shaila Munshaw was born in Kolkata and raised in Mumbai. After spending 23 years in the United States, she decided to return to India for her retirement years to be closer to friends and family. Shaila has had a fulfilling career as a teacher, spanning over 45 years. She taught Gujarati, Hindi, and social studies to 10th-grade students for 20 years at Malad Aspee Nutan Vidyamandir High School in Mumbai. During her time in Houston, Texas, she worked with the Houston Independent School District (HISD), specifically with special needs children aged 3 to 6 years for 22 years.

Shaila's passion for reading started at a young age and was nurtured by her principal, Smt. Induben Patel, who encouraged her to delve into novels like "Patan ni Prabhuta" by Kanaiyalal Munshi when she was in 7th grade. She began writing stories while in America and received support from Gujarati Sahitya Sarita Houston, an organization that has been gathering for the past 22 years and has provided invaluable guidance for her writing. Shaila's writing encompasses a variety of genres, including poems, gazals, short stories, and articles.

While working with special needs children, Shaila started documenting her daily experiences, which eventually led to the publication of her book, "Bal Gagan Vihar." She is grateful for the readers who appreciate her writing and provide encouragement through their positive comments.
