Nimisha was born and brought up in Vadodara in India. She has lived in the UK for the past 29 years and presently works for the local government as a senior software developer.
Nimisha has a BSc in Mathematics from MS University Vadodara and a BSc in Computer Science from De Montfort University in Leicester UK. She has also completed Visharad in Bharat Natyam classical dance with the Gandharv Maha Vidyalay and learnt Gujarati folk dances from Madhur Jyoti Dance Academy in Vadodara. She has performed folk dances in Gujarat and won various awards. She has been teaching and performing dance in the UK for many years.
During the covid lockdown Nimisha started her YouTube channel with recitals of Gujarati ghazals and poems for which she has a small loyal following. At that time, she took up a voluntary position as radio presenter for a Gujarati culture show at EAVA FM a local radio station in Leicester. She presents a Gujarati culture show featuring song, poetry, film,history, culture and interviews with national and local artists, and community heroes and representatives. Guests of the programme include film director Pan Nalin, kavi shree Vinod Joshi, singers Ishani Dave, Jigardaan Gadhvi, Kabir Cafe, Aghori Muzic, Jaya Rao from Vedant Vision and UK bhajan artist Bhavik Haria.
Nimisha believes that language is the key in bringing communities closer and tying them to their culture and history and wants to contribute towards the preservation and promotion of the Gujarati language.
