About Event

Summary

During our discussion, we explored traditional youth exchange programs, which are commonly known as foreign exchange student programs. These programs offer the opportunity for international students, typically at the secondary school level, to live with a host family and attend school in a different country for either a semester or an entire academic year.

One example we discussed was Shivani Shah's experience in Germany, where she had the chance to immerse herself in German culture, language, and education system. This exchange provided Shivani with a valuable opportunity to broaden her horizons and gain a deeper understanding of Germany's customs and way of life.

Another participant, Harsh Thakkar, shared his experience of going to Japan through a similar youth exchange program. Harsh had the chance to live with a Japanese host family and attend a Japanese secondary school. This experience allowed Harsh to explore the rich traditions and customs of Japan, while also learning about their educational system and making lifelong connections with his host family and classmates.

We also discussed Mansi Mehta's participation in a youth exchange program in Brazil. Mansi had the unique opportunity to live with a Brazilian host family and attend school in Brazil, immersing herself in the vibrant Brazilian culture and language. This experience opened Mansi's eyes to the diversity and richness of Brazilian society, allowing her to build cross-cultural friendships and gain a profound appreciation for the Brazilian way of life.

Overall, these youth exchange programs provide students with a transformative experience, fostering cultural understanding, personal growth, and lifelong connections across borders. Through living with host families and attending school in foreign countries, participants gain a unique perspective and develop invaluable skills that shape their global outlook and enrich their lives.
