Varsha Mahendra Adalja is an Indian Gujarati language feminist novelist, playwright and negotiator who won the 1995 Sahitya Akademi Award for Gujarati language for her novel Ansar. She is also a dramatist, writing for stage plays, screenplays, and radio.

Varsha Adalja started her literary career as an editor of Sudha, a women's weekly from 1973–1976, and later with Gujarati Femina, another women's magazine from 1989–90. She hold an executive office with Gujarati Sahitya Parishad since 1978. She has explored lepers’ colonies, prison life and has worked among adivasis.

She has penned 40 books including 22 novels and seven volumes of short stories. Shravan Tara Saravada and Timirna Padchhaya are her initial novels, followed by Ek Palni Parakh . Panch ne ek Panch , Avajno Akar , Chhevatnu Chhevat, Pachha Farata and Pagala are her suspense novels. Neelima Mrutyu Pami Chhe is social as well as suspense novel. Atash is a novel on violence in Vietnam. Her Bandivan is about corruption in jails. Her other novels are Ganth Chuutyani Vela, Mrityudand, Matinu Ghar, Shag Re Shakoru, Paratham Pagalu Mandiyu and Pagalu Mandu Hu Avkashma. Her other novellas are Mare Pan Ek Ghar Hoy, Retpankhi and Khari Padelo Tahuko. Khari Padelo Tahuko also includes another novella Ek Karagar in its book. Ansar is her most celebrated novel on lepers.

Her short story collections are E, Sanjne Umbare, Endhani, Bilipatranu Chothu Paan, Ganthe Bandhyu Akash, Anuradha and Koi Var Thay Ke.... Her selected stories are published as Varsha Adaljani Shreshth Vartao edited by Ila Arab Mehta.

Mandodari is collection of one-act plays. Aa Chhe Karagar, Tirad, Shaheed, Vasanti Koyal are her plays. Her novels Mare Pan Ek Ghar Hoy and Retpankhi are adapted for short TV series. Timirna Padchhaya was adapted into three-act play and has more than hundred shows. She adapted her father's novel as Daridranarayan as TV series and later as a play. She has produced an award-winning television film on leprosy, Ansar.

Her essay collections include Prithvi Tirth and Akhu Akash Ek Pinjarma. Her tavelogues are Nabh Zukyu, Ghughave Chhe Jal, Shivoham and Sharanagat. She edited Amar Premkathao.

Crossroad was published in 2016. It is a magnum opus historical novel spread over three generations.

She received Sahitya Akademi Award for her novel Ansar. She also received Soviet Land Nehru Award, Gujarati Sahitya Academy Award, Gujarati Sahitya Parishad Award and K. M. Munshi Award. She received Ranjitram Suvarna Chandrak. She has received Nandshankar Mehta Chandrak, Saroj Pathak Prize and Ramnarayan Pathak Short Story Prize for story writing.

• Attended Gujarati Literary Conference in year 2000 as an invited member of the delegation by Britain Gujarati Literary Academy in U.K.
• Attended ‘London Book Fair’ as a member of delegation of Sahitya Academy and participated in the discussions on various subjects in year 2009
• Invited by Gujarati Literary Academy of North America as a keynote speaker at the literary convention.

Geeta had started her career in journalism with Abhiyaan – Gujarati Weekly from Mumbai. During her journey as a journalist she had worked in various sections such as politics, crime & investigation, social and human stories. She was associated with Femina Gujarati as assistant editor and in various other publications including ANI, Gujarat Samachar, Sandesh for 15 years. She has been actively involved since 2000 as a story, screenplay and dialogue writer for various plays. At present she is writing dialogues for Gujarati Film directed by Shri Jayant Gilater.
