Harrow is also home to a large University of Westminster campus, located near Northwick Park and the hospital. It serves as the university's base for Media, Arts and Design.
The town centre by the railway station has become one of the main shopping areas of the northwestern sector of Greater London, and there are light industries at nearby Wealdstone. Ethnic minorities, notably South Asians, make up about two-fifths of Harrow’s population.
Sonal Shah holds a degree in B. Commerce from Vadodara and a postgraduate teaching qualification (PGCE) from the University of London.
Currently, Sonal is an active member of The Consortium of Gujarati Schools in the UK committee.
With over thirty years of experience working with children, Sonal has undertaken various roles. These include providing support to students with special needs, specializing as a teacher of Business Studies, Economics, and Accounting at GCSE and A Level in mainstream schools, teaching Gujarati at five community Gujarati schools, and offering training to other teachers and facilitators. Additionally, Sonal has served as an examiner for GCSE (Gujarati, Business Studies) and A Level (Business Studies). Previously, Sonal held the position of Head Teacher at Shishukunj, a community school in Harrow.
